Sentimental Sunday

Sunday was a special day since it's been a little while since the whole family has had a chance to get together.

Lilly and her sister, Betty.

Okay, yeah and Molly, Susan's precious dog. Well she is part of the family, come on now!

Enter "H". She's Lilly's grandchild and Susan's niece.

You see "H" is from out of town visiting this week with her Mom. Sunday was a special day to spend time with the whole family and get some nice portraits from me, the photog.

Hmm, not gonna happen exactly how we all thought.

"H" had an entirely different photo shoot in mind this day. I think she's been watching Amereica's Funniest Home Videos in her spare time and was determined to to do the equivalent for still photos. Did I mention she's 3 years old??

So...plan B was to start working on the cooperative members of the family. Hee hee.

Of course Susan and hubby, Roy, were ready for their close ups.

With the clock running down, we resorted to relaxing with a little art therapy.

By this time they were having so much fun I was ready to put my camera down and join them.

But I'm nothing if not persistent and I was able to get a few of that beautiful face close up.

Update 05-23-09! Brandy and "H" were able to come into the studio for a few more shots. We had a great time!

"H" had more fun looking for my cats than getting serious about posing, but she came through for me!

The Best Birthday Party Ever!

Oh how I love event shooting. Here we have another birthday party thrown by the queen of theme birthday party ideas, Tonya R.

Okay, so yeah, it seems like the typical 10 year old's party now....but just wait. You haven't seen anything yet.

Knowing how to look good just comes naturally to this little group.

If you haven't already guessed, this is a glamor shots theme party.

And who better to style hair and put on make-up than our own Miss Tonya?

Miss E was not to be out done even though her idea of a prom type dress was basically just her every day attire. (Although loading herself down with bangles and bobbles went a long way in maximizing her chic-ness).

Some of the younger set decided that accessorizing (with restraint) was the only way to go.

Stunning!

Absolutely amazing!

Cover girls for sure!

Farmer's Market Wedding OKC

Farmer's Market is an amazing building in down town Oklahoma City that has been around for 80 years. It just happens to be the venue for this weeks wedding!

Ashley made a stunning bride!

Of course Jake is no slouch himself.

In fact all the guys were happy to accommodate me for photos!

As you can see, even the little ones were gearing up for a serious shooting session. Yeah, I was their new best friend and they could not do enough for me. Hee hee.

It all starts with the youngest at the wedding. These two lovely ladies were the flower girls.

This girl was the "veteran" with something like 3 or 4 other nuptials under her flower studded belt.

This girl was one of the happiest brides I've seen in a long time. Made my job super easy!

Of course not everyone was listening to the preacher!

Her bouquet was very unique. Blue hydrangeas and other assorted spring flowers.

Of course they were too beautiful to pass up shooting again here with one of the bride's maids.

Meet Shannon and Josh. This is a fun couple I've known for a few years. They tied the knot about a month ago and asked me to shoot their big reception.

"A" is gorgeous and was very into her look!

"L" was okay with things for a while.

A bit of cajoling, a lollipop....

and a good magazine and she was back on board.

Girls, didn't you know, the magazines are the best part of the salon?

April Senior 2009

"J" is the first senior guy for 2009 for Sky Photography. We started out in the studio.

Some dressy.

But some casual too.

Did I mention he's on the track team? But he's no slouch when it comes to school work (check out the academic emblem).

So yeah, this guy has everything: good looks, brains and a lot of charm.

Not to mention a lot of patience to put up with my silly banter while we were shooting!

I could hardly contain my excitement when we happened upon this open (and empty) train car and probably reminded him a dozen times about "what a photographer's coup" this was. Yeah, I'm a nerd.

Meet Erica and Daniel. I met them for the first time through my good friend and mentor Sara, of Sara's Photo Creations. They came to Sara for their engagement photos (see below-thanks for loaning me your shots Sara!!)

I had the good fortune to shoot Daniel and Erica's wedding as a second shooter last July. Shortly after they got married, Daniel was shipped out of the country. If ya haven't noticed by now, Daniel is in the Navy and still actively serving our country!

Well, this past Monday Daniel got to come home for a brief 15 day stay before he will have to to back. Sara was unable to take photos for this exciting event and she called me to see if I was available. Are ya kiddin'? Of course I'm available for a military reunion! Reunions like this are the VERY best kind!

Okay, so I'm an over achiever and I get there an hour before the plane lands. Erica meets me and we count the minutes for Daniel's plane to arrive. Here she is as lovely as the day the two of them met!

Ever the proud wife...here is a sneak peek at Daniel in her cute little pink Blackberry.

Notice his ring on her necklace.

She took off her shoes to get the very best traction (no reason to lose a shoe while running to met your beloved.)

Okay, I'll just be quiet now while they have their moment.

Yes, more kissing. (I told you....he's been gone for 7 months....)

I think they were really glad to see each other (and for me to disappear! LOL.)

Best Friends Forever

The first of many senior shoots for me in 2009 and this was one of the most fun sessions I've had!

"A" and "R" have been friends since grade school. It's only fitting they have their senior photos taken with back to back sessions.

They were both awesome about sporting some of my hats.

They had no trouble with the glamor aspect of the shoot.

Simply gorgeous!

As you can see I love all things head wear! Hee hee. These girls certainly pulled it off!!

February Wedded Bliss

What a fantastic couple! Shauna and David got married yesterday, 02-21-09, at Westly Methodist in Oklahoma City.

Shauna's choice of the tiger lily made for dramatic accents to this already beautiful church.

The reception was also done in a beautifully at OKC's very own Will Roger's Theatre.

I'm quite sure that the guests had just as much fun as the lovely couple!

I had the pleasure of getting together with a coworker yesterday for some shots of her newest addition. "D" is only three months old and still very new to the whole modeling thing.

Big brother "C", as it turns out, was happy to show her the ropes.

Although I do have a sneaking suspicion that this conversation is more about what really happened to his Sunday dress shoes and not helpful pointers so that "D" can find her best side.

Nerves of steel. That's what it takes to do what these two little ladies do. Practice 24/7.

But in their spare time, did you know they are just like any other 11 year old and 8 year old??

They like to show their style in their clothes.

As well as their choice of head wear!

But what they are deep in their souls are sisters.

And of course they know how to have fun!!

A Jedi Knight Celebrates His 8th Birthday

Tulip Time

Ah.....spring time in Oklahoma. Okay, it's not quite spring time in the city just yet, but I was inspired to bring a little bit of spring into my house for some macro and studio shots.

Tulips are one of my favorite flowers.

This bunch seems to be right out of the green house since the buds are so tight.

I'll probably be working with them for a few more days (just to get the most from them that I can.)

Snow Day! (Actually More of an Ice Day)

Well, I'm no longer in school, but once in a while I still get a snow day. I'm originally from Denver, CO and so I should probably correctly identify today as an ICE day. Oklahoma doesn't really get snow as much as it gets ice (think, precipitation coming out of the sky into all that wind...you get the picture).

Since the ice storm closed my office (state office), I decided I needed a photo project to occupy my down time today. I started out in the bathroom and was drawn to the white on white.

Okay, I got lucky and got one of my cat, Lois. Normally she turns her head when she hears the camera's auto focus "beep, beep".

This is a childhood toy that I've had forever. It came from my grandparent's house just before Grandma packed up and moved to an assisted living center.

Meet Shannon and Josh

I've know this couple for a few years now and I'm thrilled they are planning their wedding day now! We got together for an engagement shoot this past weekend and I am sharing a few from the day.

It was a pretty exciting day for me since I just recently got studio lighting and a backdrop. They were definitely game for some indoor and outdoor shooting.

Of course we had to get silly (it's a requirement of my clients. Hee hee.)

Here we are out side Guthrie's Scottish Rite Temple.

It's a beautiful place that if you have the time, you should come and tour it. Better yet, book your bridal session there (with me of course.)

Christmas Day-What a Joy!

Wow, my nephew's wife had their first baby at the end of October this year and I met him for the first time on Christmas day.

He was a lot of fun to photograph. Here he is with his mom. He was fascinated by the lights. All I needed to do to get him looking in the right direction was to fire off a few shots. The gentle "poof" of the strobe sure got his attention.

Sweet baby for sure!

Becky is a gorgeous Mom.

If you look closely, you can see Becky was holding a stuffed animal to keep his attention (he was getting a bit hungry and didn't want to play model forever.

What Did You Do Just Before Christmas???

Me? Why I met with this beautiful family you see here right in their own home for Christmas photos. I adore this room. The color and decorations set off these photos wonderfully.

Mom and Dad are a lovely couple I met while shooting a birthday party.

Meet one of their DARLING daughters and one of the precious pups. Maple is her name. This is a family right after my own heart....even the dogs have their own stockings.

This is Louise and her husband, who I also had the pleasure of meeting at that birthday party. (Thank you for the heads up about Salado, TX! It was a lot of fun to make a stop there on my drive back to OK!)

Surgery Day

Not exactly what most parents consider to be a big photo day, but my friends wanted to document this time in their little girl's life. "E", who just turned three...you can see her party photos in one of the Oct 2008 entries, had hip surgery.

If any of you have had surgery at a young age, you know the fear that comes with even seeing a hospital later in life. I hope these images bring "E" some happy memories and she learns that hospitals are marvelous places.

Of course what hospital visit isn't complete without taking a trip to the business office to be registered.

For "E", this probably seemed like a kooky kinda thing to do: getting up and going somewhere at 5:30 am just to wait around.

Ahh, we finally made our destination (the scales for a weight check) at the end a long, if not convoluted, hallway.

More waiting.

Fortunately those hospital folks thought to put a TV in the room. "E's" attention is momentarily diverted.

So what is up with this I-gotta-put-on-a-hospital-gown?

Bargaining only works for so long and Mom and Dad finally get "E's" clothes changed.

More (cool) distractions.

More waiting, but at least "E" gets a short tour of the part of the place she'll be for the next hour or so.

No speed limits were broken while obtaining these shots. (Promise.)

This is the only color shot I'm posting from this day. Seems very appropriate that "E" get a pink (fab color don't you think?) body cast.

In solidarity, Mr. Bear dons a pink body cast too. Hello Kitty is there for moral support.

Fast asleep after getting into her room, "E" gets some much needed rest.

Family and one of our church elders gather round and thank God for His goodness and for healing strength for all.

Christmas Time is Here!

Time for snuggling up with the one you love.

You may recognize this gentleman and his lovely wife. (Hint, birthday party awhile back with all his children and a few grand children.)

Now that the weather is changing, we decided to take this session indoors. Can't you smell the hot chocolate and marsh mellows?

Amber, brown, golds mixed up with the colors of this holiday season make their home most inviting.

Okay, yes, we did step outside for just a few. I could not resist persuading Ann to don old Saint Nick's cap for at least one shot. (Looks like she took it quite well. David too. Hee hee.)

Pete, their Scottish Terrier, was kind enough to hang out for just a few photos.

Happy 65th Birthday!

I had the privilege to shoot a birthday get together for a very nice gentleman.

Cliff and his lovely wife are a super couple.

Stephanie Jackson, a very talented local classical guitarist provided us with beautiful music the entire evening.

The buffet looked yummy (so did those sweets).

Someone likes my favorite flower (the gerbera).

Here Cliff is with a couple of his buds. I could tell these guys would be a hoot to hang around with!

Laughter all around.

I can guarantee you this gentleman is quiet the raconteur. Too bad I was busy taking photos or I might have had the chance to hear some great stories.

While I was editing these engagement photos, the phrase XOXO kept popping into my head. It certainly fit this session, so I'm running with it.

Not being a history major, I had to do a bit of research on the internet to find out the possible origins of the XOXO. According to Wikipedia, the X can represent the four lips of a kiss or four legs in an embrace. Whew! I won't go any further, but leave the rest to your imagination!

Meet Brandi and Michael. This charming couple was more than willing to kiss and snuggle for photos on our beautiful autumn day.

November 8, 2008 Wedding in a Barn!

I had yet to experience a wedding in a barn! I knew the possibilities would be endless for photos of this lovely couple. I was not disappointed!

Meet Desiree and Jason.

This fortunate couple was able to secure a very neat location: The Express Ranch (the Clydesdale barn in Yukon, OK) for their nuptials. No small thing considering the barn does not normally schedule weddings there (yet.....)

Since the loft of this beautiful barn would be our location for the ceremony AND reception, this couple decided to do all their photos before the ceremony.

WOW, a photog's dream! Not only was I able to photograph Des by herself.....

But Jason quickly got to be involved as well. Talk about a relaxed time for all.

We also took advantage of the gorgeous setting sun for this shot.

Okay, the guys got to be just the guys in this one.

Which of course led to the inevitable cutting loose and having fun....well, just for a little bit. Hee hee.

The loft is a warm and cozy combination of glowing wood and western features (do your hear the soft neighs of the Clydesdale's just downstairs??)

Celebrating 70 Years Young!

Yes, this does appear to be the typical family photo, but did you know that "D" just recently turned seventy and all his kids came from various spots on the map to see him just today??

In case you're having trouble picking him out (I know it's hard because he doesn't look to be seventy!) He's the third from your left in line there.

Can't you see the mischievous look in his eyes? Yeah, this is no ordinary family photo here....check it out.
"D", you make us wanna shout (wave my hands....well, you know...hee hee).

She's Three Now!

Meet "E". She just turned three years old. She'd like you to come along and see what great fun her special day turned out to be.
The cake was pink and fabulous!
Crowns were a running theme for the afternoon.
In fact, the cake was so tempting, that someone's little fingers tried out the frosting before it was cut.

"E" had several very special guests show up for her big day. Can you name them???

Everyone felt like a princess that day.

All the girls had to take turns giving this little boy a kiss (he's already a prince and I guess they were doing it for good luck).

By the way, this sweet little man is "E's" brother. Too bad he didn't fit in my pocket...I would have taken him home.

October's Weddings (Full of COLOR!!)

October 4th was a special day for Amy and Robert!!

Amy and I met at North OKC's Camilla's Salon to start the day.

She made a stunning bride.

Robert along with his Dad (and Best Man).

Okay, so his daughter had other things on her mind that day besides posing for photos.
But obviously some of the kids enjoyed some time in front of the camera.

Just to keep you all up to date, I have had the opportunity to second shoot with a couple of other OKC photogs. Here are a few from April (the venue is Walnut Creek Chapel).

It wasn't hard to encourage these guys to have fun!

My other wedding in April also a lot of fun! Can you tell I like capturing the details. This bride and groom had one of the most beautiful weddings sets I've seen!

This wedding was in a small church in Edmond, OK.

My 2nd shooter got this shot. I think it's a hoot! The bride loved it of course (these are her nieces.)

All Boy!

This is "C" and he is all boy! He's just 8 months old now, but he's working on becoming an active (walking, no make that running) toddler!

He was good enough to stay still for his session on Sunday and I was able to capture him in two of his spring ensembles. Pretty cute, huh?

It was all I could do not to pinch those chubby cheeks!

Second Senior of the Season

"J" is the second senior to schedule with Sky Photography this year. What fun we had! Colorful Brick Town in OKC on a sunny spring (well it's March people and I'm calling it spring) day.

One of "J's" passions is music. He brought along his beautiful guitar and it made for a lovely prop. I have to hand it to his parents too, they were awesome sports as we found the the right spot for photos.

Could his eyes be any bluer???

Seniors 2008

I just had my first senior session of 2008. What a lot of fun! "M" was a great sport and a natural in front of the camera.

An avid soccer player (bet you can guess his jersey number too!), he chose many different locations and moods for this shoot.
